One of the most important concerns a devoted Christian has is to know the Will of God and to walk it out.  There are times that this may be easier said than done because it involves more than one factor.  Terry and I found this to be true when we were earnestly seeking the Lord for direction for our lives and ministry.  There is a chapter in my book that describes what our search was like.  You can read below a portion of our experience.  It may resonate with yours.

Chosen of the Lord – Broken in Heart

Chapter Two

The Mystery of the Will of God

Excerpt from paragraphs on Pages 24 and 25:

“Ephesians 5:17 speaks to us about understanding “what the will of the Lord is”.  This verse gives us a great hint about the will of God – at times we may find it baffling and we need His help in understanding it.  In pursuing God’s will we will discover there is a mystery about it.  We do not comprehend always why we are where we are.  It is wonderful yet it is difficult.  It is rewarding yet challenging.  One day we are rejoicing, and the next day we are crying in sackcloth and ashes.  We are left shaking our heads and wondering how we arrived at such a dilemma in the middle of being in God’s will.  We need understanding.  However, God does not reveal everything we want to know about His will for our lives but He does reveal everything we need to know, when we need to know it.  Walking out His will remains a faith walk one day at a time trusting Him though we have many questions. Terry and I found ourselves in God’s faith-training camp, slightly more advanced than our previous experiences.  He put us through the rigors of spiritual combat to teach us to trust Him in circumstances we had never encountered and to understand facets of His will we did not know.  The Lord had quite a teaching list for us.  I was hoping we would not have to “repeat” any class while discovering more about faith and the will of God!”

Excerpt from paragraph on Page 25:

“Even though we lacked understanding of the holding pattern we were in, we had to continue to wait.  If we rushed ahead of the Lord, we risked birthing something of the flesh instead of the Spirit.”

Excerpt from paragraph on Page 25:

“Waiting on the Lord crucifies our flesh.  This is difficult because our flesh wants to rule.  As we waited on Him to make His will known to us, we did not always wait on Him “patiently”.  There were times we were waiting with more fretting than patience, more anguish than peace.  Even if our flesh is most uncomfortable during the waiting process, God will not change His schedule.  We have the option to wait patiently or in misery.”
